Matt started Heartland in 2020 after working in education and nursing. He’ll review your photos, plan access and cleanup with you, and run the grinder on the day of the job.

BEFORE THE WORK STARTS
The grinder generally needs about 36 inches of clear width. Open the gate and measure between obstructions, including posts and latches. Corners, slopes and ground conditions matter beyond the gate itself.
Heartland arranges the utility-locate request and confirms responses before work. Sprinklers, invisible fences and other privately owned lines aren’t marked by public utility companies. Tell Matt about them; they may need a private locator.

Include the widest base measurement, a photo of the surrounding yard and the route in. Tell Matt whether you’re planning grass, planting or construction afterward.
Where to measureAFTER STUMP GRINDING
Matt rakes and blows the work area and leaves the wood chips and soil in a neat pile. Hauling, replacement soil and lawn repair are separate. If you’re away, he can send completion photos.
Grinding removes the stump without excavating the entire root system. Point out exposed roots you want addressed so Matt can include them in the agreed work.
Clear out the bulk of the wood debris and add suitable topsoil before seeding or laying sod. Buried wood can leave low spots as it decays, so the area may need more soil as it settles.

HEARTLAND + ONE TREE PLANTED
Heartland funds one tree through One Tree Planted for every stump removed. Its planting partners carry out the reforestation work. It doesn’t include planting a new tree in your yard.
